The Kick-off meeting of the LearnArch: Teaching Tool for Architecture Learning #erasmusplus project took place in Iasi, Romania, between 29-30th of March 2023, where the consortium of 3 members from Romania, Greece and Portugal met to move forward with the initiation and proper management of the project.
The partners visited the Faculty of Architecture “G.M.Cantacuzino” on “Gh. Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, where they discuss with the faculty’s representative technical details about the project and its implementation and see the students and the environment they are studying.
The Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) – Kick-off meeting for the LearnArch project marked a pivotal beginning to a journey aimed at reshaping architectural education through innovative learning tools. Hosted by NEA, the meeting brought together partners from different corners of Europe, including Romania, Greece, and Portugal, setting the stage for collaboration, planning, and a shared vision for the project’s future.
Over the course of two days, representatives from each partnering organization engaged in comprehensive discussions, laying the foundational stones for the project’s execution. The agenda was meticulously crafted to cover all aspects of project management, implementation strategies, financial planning, deadlines, and dissemination techniques. One of the meeting’s highlights was the signing of partnership agreements, symbolizing a formal commitment to the project’s goals and an understanding of the collaborative efforts required to achieve them.
The kick-off meeting’s primary objective was to ensure all partners were aligned with the project’s aims and to establish a clear action plan for its successful implementation. Detailed discussions were held on the development of critical project components such as the Project Management Plan, which NEA would spearhead, and the Dissemination Plan, along with the Sustainability and Exploitation Plan, which would be elaborated by Dracon. COFAC took the lead on initiating the Risk Management Plan, ensuring all potential challenges and risks were identified and strategies to mitigate them were in place.
While the consortium members, including project coordinators and logistics support staff, were directly involved, the broader beneficiaries included the institutions and individuals who would eventually engage with the project’s outputs. This initial meeting was not only about logistical planning but also about building a community of practice among the partners, encouraging the exchange of ideas, best practices, and innovative concepts.
The significance of the TPM lies in its role as a cornerstone for the project’s development. By establishing clear goals, roles, and responsibilities, as well as a cohesive action plan, the meeting ensured that the project was set on a path toward achieving its objectives. It underscored the importance of structured project management, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
Expected outcomes of this foundational meeting included a solidified project framework, enhanced partner relations, and a collective commitment to the project’s success. The agreements signed and plans developed during the meeting not only served as a roadmap for the project but also as a commitment to the educational and transformative potential of the LearnArch initiative. Through this collaborative effort, the partners embarked on a mission to deliver a tool that would make architectural education more interactive, engaging, and accessible, thereby enriching the learning experience for educators and students alike.
